In the absence of available equipment, rescuers can use the Bearers Alongside  Carry technique to lift and transfer a victim especially in corridors.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Survey the scene and introduce yourself.
  2. Position the victim’s hand over the chest.
  3. The rescuers position themselves standing in line on one side of the victim with the tallest at the head part and the smallest at the foot part.
  4. The team leader instructs the other rescuers to kneel at the same time with both knees on the ground.
  5. The rescuers insert both hands at the back of the victim, moving closer to the body of the victim, and ensuring their hold of the victim.
  6. The team leader instructs to lift the victim at the same time and place the victim on one of each of their lap which is raised at about 90 degrees angle. The knee to be raised is the side closest to the head of the victim.
  7. The team leader makes another instruction to clip the victim close to their body followed by standing at the same time while lifting the victim.
  8. A pivot of the foot towards the head part of the victim will be instructed. For synchronized movement, the inner foot will be the first to step forward as commanded by the team leader.
  9. Once arrived at the transfer destination, the team leader instructs the other rescuers to have their feet centered.
  10. The team leader instructs the other rescuers to kneel at the same time having the victim placed on one of each of their lap which is raised at about 90 degrees angle.
  11. The victim is carefully unclipped away from the rescuers’ body and eventually placed on the ground at the same time.
